SAFIA SIAD
Safia Siad is a curator, writer, and dj. Themes of joy, loving as resistance, liberation, and hope inform her work.
She is a 2023 curatorial fellow with Wave Form Projects and curated this bridge between starshine and clay at Critical Distance Centre For Curators which explores and illuminates sonic innovations and architectures that create and hold space for Black aliveness. With a practice rooted in care, her work focuses on placemaking and archive building.
She was recently the head organizer of the 2021
Black Portraiture(s) conference with Wedge Curatorial Projects and organized the 2022 Black Studies Summer Seminar.
She is currently curator and project manager with the
Afrosonic Innovation Lab.
